The company “NAUTICA APPAREL, INC.”, established in 1983, is one of the subsidiaries of Authentic Brands Group LLC and the owner of the well-known trademark “NAUTICA” to distinguish mainly clothing, footwear, hats and accessories, which it markets through its licensees and partners worldwide, including Greece.
The Greek company “STAR ITALY MONOPROSOPI IKE” filed the national trademark application no. 293456 “NEW NAUTICA OCEAN & design”, against which the company “NAUTICA APPAREL, INC.” filed an opposition based, among others, on its trademarks “NAUTICA OCEANS” and “NAUTICA & design”. The Administrative Trademark Committee accepted that the trademark “NAUTICA” owned by “NAUTICA APPAREL, INC.” is a well-known trademark and rejected the national trademark application through its decision no. 61/2026.
