Abg Hunter Llc

The company “ABG HUNTER LLC” is the owner of the worldwide well-known trademark “HUNTER”, mainly for distinguishing clothing, footwear, especially wellington-type rubber boots, bags and accessories. The first owner of the trademark was the Scottish company “Hunter Boot Limited”, which was founded in 1856 under its initial name “North British Rubber Company”. The aforementioned products are currently sold worldwide, including Greece, through “ABG HUNTER LLC’s” licensees and partners, and they have been widely acclaimed by the purchasing public in the countries in which they are available due to their excellent and consistent quality.

ULRICH TRAUGOTT, taking advantage of the fame of “ABG HUNTER LLC’s” “HUNTER” products, requested the assignment of the Domain Name “hunter-greece.gr”, which was automatically approved by the HELLENIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS & POST COMMISSION (EETT), as EETT does not ex officio examine the pre-existence of prior Industrial Property rights. It is notable that the aforementioned Domain Name referred to a website through which boots, footwear, clothes and bags were sold, i.e. exactly the same products as the products marketed by “ABG HUNTER LLC”, without any relevant license having been granted.

The company “ABG HUNTER LLC” filed a Complaint before EETT against the Domain Name “hunter-greece.gr” based on its earlier trademark “HUNTER”, which was accepted by the decision no. 1178/9/ 15.12.2025. Through this decision, EETT ordered the revocation of the right of exclusive use over the Domain Name “hunter-greece.gr” and its transfer to the complainant.
